Stromness Academy

As we are now 9 weeks away from the departure of the 2024 Swiss Trip, we thought we’d look back at some previous trips. Can you recognise anyone from 2008?!

Prince’s Trust

The Achieve programme is developed and managed by The Prince’s Trust, a national youth charity that supports our pupils in S3, to achieve their potential.

The Trust’s Achieve programmes gives young people the practical support needed to help develop self-esteem and skills for their future. 72% of young people who participated in an Achieve club last year felt that the programme had increased their education or training opportunities. 94% of the young people who completed the Achieve programme in 2015-2016 were in education, employment or training three months after the programme ended.

The Achieve programme is for young people who are facing challenges in education, supporting them to learn new skills, develop confidence and reengage with learning so they can reach their full potential.

The programme will be delivered by staff who have been trained by The Prince’s Trust.

While on the programme young people will have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of activities related to Personal and Social Development, Life Skills, Active Citizenship, Enterprise and Preparation for Work.

They will be able to:

  • Make their own choices about what they learn
  • Take responsibility for setting and achieving their own goals
  • Build confidence
  • Get the skills needed to achieve their future goals
  • Gain a qualification in Personal Development and Employability Skills

The Prince’s Trust Qualification in Personal Development and Employability Skills can be achieved at National 3, 4 or 5 and at three different sizes (Award, Certificate or Diploma). Over the course of the programme, young people will be encouraged to work toward a qualification.
