Stromness Academy

On Monday 21st June, pupils took part in their first Sports day since 2019, with great success! Pupils in every year group took part in athletics, rounders, football, hockey, fun events, netball, badminton, dodgeball and volleyball. It was great to see such healthy competition with pupils trying their best to win for their house and displaying excellent sporting conduct at the same time. In S2, R house ran out the winners with a particularly strong showing in the Athletics. In S3, M ran out the victors with particularly strong results in Badminton and Football. In S4, R won with strong results in Athletics and Fun Events. In S5/6, T took the victory after a slightly stronger showing in Athletics than other houses. Overall, R took home the Phil Mackay trophy with a winning total of 763 points, M were in 2nd place with 710 points and T in 3rd with 694 points. Well done to R!Finally, a special mention to Max Linklater who broke the S3 high jump record with a height of 1.56m.
