Finding Fiction

Fiction books [storybook] can be found in two places in the library:

  • Fiction for S1 to S4 pupils can be found in the Lower Library.
  • Senior Fiction for S5 & S6 is in a separate section in the Lower Library.

All fiction books are arranged on the shelves in alphabetical order by the author's surname. Eg. Books by Roald Dahl are found under ā€˜Dā€™.

The shelves are clearly marked with letter headings and each letter is indicated on the shelves an alphabet block.

Some fiction books have a coloured dot of the spine. These indicate the level of reading.

  • Blue dot: Quick Read Usually shortened versions of books especially the classics. Also other books aimed at a lower reading age. They will give you an easier read.
  • Yellow dot: Suitable for S3 and above, but maybe of interest to younger pupils.
  • Red dot: Senior Fiction For 5th & 6th year. Kept in the Upper Library. S3/4 who wish to extend their reading may look at these with permission from the Librarian and your English teacher.
