Stromness Academy

On our way to Ghent, and then on to Switzerland!Orkney has sent us off with its finest weather, as we leave for the Swiss Trip 2024.Thanks to NorthLink Ferries for providing us with sponsorship to help with the costs.Keep up to date with the trip each day on our Facebook page. Lunchtime & After School Activities

A variety of extra-curricular activities take place in the school during lunchtime and some after school. All year groups, unless otherwise stated.

*Please arrange your own transport home.
**Fitness suite only available to those who have had their induction.

Early lunch passes can be collected from the front office (or library for library-based activities) for activities at lunchtime.



  • Miniature Painting (Library) – Lunchtime
  • Badminton (PE) – Lunchtime
  • Fitness Suite (S3 and above) (PE) – Lunchtime**


  • Chess & Board Games (Library) – Lunchtime
  • Pupil Librarian meetings / training (Library) – Lunchtime
  • Dungeons & Dragons (Library) Afterschool: 15:35 -16:45*
  • Library for research, PCs, homework, study support (Library) After School – 15:35 -16:45*
  • Interhouse Sport (PE) – Lunchtime
  • Volleyball (PE) – After school: 15:35-16:30*
  • FitnessSuite (S3 and above) (PE) – Lunchtime**


  • Wellness Wednesday – Lunchtime – A no-tech session. Read, colouring-in, just chill, board-games (quietly).
  • Robotic Club – Lunchtime – Computing – See Mr. Beauvois to sign up.

  • Dungeons & Dragons – Library – Lunchtime
  • Indoor Football (PE) – Lunchtime
